Happy New Year!

IMG_9894I am so excited to be back to school (believe it or not)! I would like to thank all of you for the wonderful holiday gifts, cards and drawings! The students came back ready to learn and catch up with friends. We have been mostly reviewing in math, reading and writing. Coming up soon will be the science fair. I will give you more information regarding this in the upcoming weeks. It was nice going over the RAZ-Kids logs and seeing how much reading went on over the winter break. Great job!

Please feel free to talk to me about any questions or concerns regarding your child’s progress report. I have had informal conversations with some of you on the playground or in class regarding them. So, feel free to approach me, email or call me.

Library time is every Tuesday. Please have your child bring their books back on Tuesday, if they wish to check out new books.

Digital Storytelling: We have been creating all of the Winter Break stories into digital stories this week and will continue to until all have been completed. Thank you for completing these with your child.

I am continuing to upload your child’s stories and pictures to my blog and YouTube channel weekly. If you do not want your child’s name or work listed please notify me. This also applies to my webpage postings which include photos of the class. Please subscribe to my YouTube playlist so you can get emails when I upload new movies.

Homework: Home work for this week consists of math review and writing. The students are reading a story in class about a character named Jesse who has to wait for a long time. We have discussed how it feels to wait for someone or something. The students have written short narratives in centers regarding this. I have included an idea map for them to write a longer, more detail narrative about how it feels to wait…forever! Students are to continue to read on RAZ-Kids, to you or a sibling every night. Thank you for your support in these areas.
