It was wonderful meeting my new students and parents today! I also had visits from previous students, and even one from 4 years ago! The classroom and lessons are all prepared, now it is time to begin. I still have trouble sleeping the night before the first day of school! I will be picking up the class at 8:35 on the playground by the basketball courts. The teacher names are written on the sidewalk where the class is to line up. Students may bring a water bottle from which to drink throughout the day.
I will posting information and photos of the class on this site. There is also a link up top to my YouTube channel where I post the students digital stories throughout the year. I will also send home a printed newsletter every week.
The only supplies students need for school are a backpack to bring work home in and shoes that they can play in. Below I have listed items that my class tends to use the most and would greatly appreciate any donations of the following items:
- Dry erase markers
- Colored pencils
- Copier paper
- Dixon Ticonderoga #2 pencils (they are the easiest to sharpen)
- Healthy snacks (28 students) to be given during recess
- Crayons
- Pink block erasers
- Gallon and sandwich sized zip lock bags
After the first two weeks of school I will start having parent volunteers come into the room to work with students. I prefer to have parents read, write and assist students while they are volunteering. Please contact me if you are interested.
Throughout the year I invite parents to come in and present to the class what they do for a living. I try to connect the classwork with the real world and how they are already preparing themselves for their future careers. Please contact me if you are interested in doing a 15 minute presentation. Thank you and I hope to see you around the school and in class!
