It’s Done!

Our first week of school was great! We have uploaded our first digital story-Animals by Ian and Jon! We have many more already in the works. The students have become familiar with the daily schedule, centers and have been working productively! The first of the student digital stories are already rolling out. We have movies about sharks, school, friends and planes in progress. I want to thank you for all the classroom donations. The few things we use, we use a lot! Every donation helps.

We are engaged in literacy and math centers that are a mix of review and assessment. The literacy centers are based on The Mixed-Up Chameleon and math centers are a review of the end of last year and new second grade concepts.

Digital Storytelling: Students are utilizing the digital cameras to create stories about the school and gardens. I also encourage them to write about their lives outside of school and to bring in pictures or artifacts to use in class. We’re always looking for those writing opportunities that happen every day.

I am will be uploading your child’s stories and pictures to my blog and YouTube channel weekly. If you do not want your child’s name or work listed please notify me. This also applies to my webpage postings which include photos of the class.

Homework: This week’s home work is due by next Wednesday. The red folder is due this Friday. This week’s homework consists of writing about the first week of school. The students have created an idea map for this writing. The math homework is a mix of review and current concepts. Reading on RAZ-Kids is also an expectation throughout the week. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding the homework.
